When Leah Molinari first reached out to me to design her website, I was excited.
I get in to all of my projects. Eventually. If you’re going to design a nice website that performs well on search engines, you have to first really understand your client’s brand. This entails plenty of research to kick off the project, and the research tends to beget interest. Then, the design phase is a lot more fun because you’ve developed understanding and interest in your client’s market and target audience!
That said, Leah’s brand—Molinari Travel—was of interest to me right away! A travel advisor who specializes in luxurious unique travel experiences? Oh yeah. Sign me up. I knew designing her site would be enjoyable.
And it was! Not only was Leah a joy to work with (meaning- she didn’t micro-manage, had everything to me in time, was there for any questions I had, and otherwise just left me to do my thing), but we both agree her site has turned out wonderfully.
We just launched it last week and I bet, despite being in a really competitive market, it’ll be climbing to the top of Google a couple months from now.
Here are some details from the process…

Designing a Website For A High-End Luxury Travel Agent:
Homepage Video to pull the audience in right away
Because I appreciated Leah’s non-micro-managing of me, I decided to go above and beyond by creating a video for her homepage.
Using stock footage, I designed a short video to give her homepage that Wow! factor when clients land on it. I thought this would pull them into the imagined experiences they could be having by hiring her, better than a still image would.
What do you think? Check out the homepage video intro here.
Neutral Tones
Leah’s logo and other branding graphics were tan, white, and black. Rather than add an extra color to the combination, I decided to let the imagery be the splash of color. The clean neutral palette seemed to me to reflect Leah’s work- classic, timeless, luxurious.
Contrasting Fonts
For Leah’s site, I decided to feature two primary contrasting fonts- a serif and a sans serif, the new and the old, one modern and the other traditional. I love how the fonts complement one another.
Background Graphics For Parallax Scrolling
We all have our opinions on parallax scrolling, and I happen to love it. To enhance this design feature, it helps to have background graphics that can move in tandem with the foreground graphics. Most clients don’t present background graphics for parallax scroll, so I end up designing these for them. Necessary? No. Beautiful. Yes!
These background graphics can be very simple in design. I would even recommend keeping them simple on purpose, as you don’t want to distract from the foreground content.
Built-in SEO
Using my SEO techniques that have been proven time and again to get Squarespace websites to Google Page 1, I optimized Leah’s site from every angle, as much as organically possible.
I expect in a couple of months, her site will start surfacing at the top of search engines for her targeted keywords.
Leah’s Feedback On Her New Site:
“Having a home-based business as a luxury travel advisor, I knew my website would need to stand out, both in design and SEO. Tiffany has been wonderful to work with from our initial consultation to after the site went live. She is quick to answer any questions, detail-oriented, and is so easy to work with. She really understood the look and design I wanted to go for and exceeded my expectations! She has also been helpful in explaining what I need to do to keep my website relevant and growing in the future, and I look forward to taking her suggestions and moving forward with my business. I would absolutely recommend Tiffany’s services!”
