If You Still Think Squarespace Is Bad For SEO, You're Doing It Wrong...

There is a common concern I run into amongst my clients, and that is this worry that Squarespace is just inherently not good for SEO and that somehow having a Squarespace site means they will never perform optimally in the SEO arena with their competitors.

I remember coming across a few articles about this very topic throughout the last year or two, but I didn’t pay much attention.

Why have I not paid much attention?

Because, so far, I haven’t had any reason to troubleshoot this or even be curious about it; my Squarespace sites perform really well.

In fact, most of my clients rank on Google page 1

… and some of them in less than a month from the time we launch their site!

So this leads me to the conclusion that SEO just isn’t being performed right on Squarespace sites that are experiencing ranking problems.

As an experiment, I’m building out a new niche website of my own to see how quickly I can target keywords and rank on Google page 1 for those keywords. Already, with a brand new site, I’m ranking on Pages 3 and 4 for three of my target keywords. (Ahem - Page URLs!)

And on another niche site that I built in 2018, not only am I ranking on Google Page 1 for a LOT of keywords, but in the first most authoritative position, ahead of some major, large, world-reknowned brands! In fact, my husband and I were contacted a few weeks ago to star on a cable TV show, and this contact happened because the producers found us on Google Page 1, using a specific keyword that our niche site ranked high for. We ultimately decided not to do the show, because living in the Alaskan wilderness with strangers just didn’t sound good to us right now, but that’s beside the point - it was all because of SEO that this pretty cool offer was handed to us.

Keep in mind, these are Squarespace sites we’re talking about, relying only on organic SEO strategies and techniques, not a penny of paid advertising.

So is Squarespace inherently bad for SEO? I sure as heck have no reason to think so!

Squarespace SEO Success Stories

To start turning around this myth, I’m going to be very transparent and begin a blog post series of my Squarespace SEO Success Stories where I point out specific Squarespace websites I’ve built and how well they are performing from an SEO standpoint.

Then, I’ll analyze each site to determine how it could perform even better.

I hope you’ll stay tuned!

Squarespace SEO SEcrets

I’m slowly, slowly, slowly —between my tightly packed web design projects— working on a Squarespace SEO Secrets course.

Every single day, I have to turn down clients who I know would benefit from my SEO Service solely because there aren’t enough hours in the day.

I want to teach folks what I do to routinely get websites to Google Page 1.

This is important because once you understand what to do, on-site and off-site, you can really take off with the growth of your site (and brand!).

Hiring someone to perform an SEO service reminds me a lot of the old saying: give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, feed him for a lifetime…

If I perform your SEO service for you, great - but you can’t just let it sit there, SEO requires consistent effort and regular updates to grow optimally.

You need to get involved and understand things yourself.

So, I’m going to teach you everything I know.

Everything that has worked for me.

If you think you might be interested in this course, be sure to sign up with your email address above to receive updates on the course, and meanwhile enjoy informative Squarespace SEO blog posts.

And with that, I leave you with the view from my desk here. Life is good.
