A couple of years ago, a videographer in Illinois reached out to me to create a new website for his company— Acclaim Media.

He had plenty of great content to feature his work and knew precisely which services he wanted to offer, and to which geographical region.

This made my job fairly easy- I like when people know what they want and do a good job articulating it.

Because this was one of my earlier websites, I love seeing that it’s ranking on Google Page 1 for many of its target keywords.

It’s safe to say I’ve learned a lot about SEO since I built this website, so if you’re a videographer whose business would benefit from ranking on Google Page 1, reach out if you’d like to schedule your web design + SEO project with me! Details about my process can be found here.

Website for a Videographer / Videography company:

Intro video banner

Video banners always make an impact, in my opinion, helping to engage visitors as opposed to the still images we’re used to seeing on most websites.

But when you’re a videographer, I would guess it’s even more impactful to welcome visitors to your site with moving footage as opposed to a still image.

For this reason, a compilation reel was used at the top of the homepage, which you can see here.

Dynamic Homepage

Unless a client has a specific vision for their homepage, I like to design homepages as waymarkers to the rest of the site.

To me, a homepage is a way of leaving bread crumbs to encourage your visitors to move around your site.

You’ll notice on Acclaim Media’s site that I did just that. Using index pages, I create sections that take the visitor around the site.

It’s also important to anticipate what visitors to the site might be wondering in advance, and then respond to those questions. One or two packed sentences explaining what you do and how you help your clients is important to place near the top of any homepage.

Then use call-to-actions to encourage people to find out more by perusing other pages of your site.

SEO pointer: if someone clicks away from your site quickly upon arriving or doesn’t go on to browse other parts of the site aside from the page they arrived on, this is bad for SEO. So try to be creative and think of how to capture and engage visitors.

High-quality images

While my client had plenty of professional video content for the site, he was lacking in high-quality photos.

I helped him by sourcing stock photos online that fit the topic at hand and the industry overall.

Testimonials all throughout the site

Reviews are really important, especially in the online world, and a service-based business is no different.

People will want to know what it’s like to work with you. Maybe your work looks great but you’re a real pain in the neck to work with… they can’t know this and might not feel comfortable reaching out. But featuring testimonials offers social proof and warms up the online 2-D world.

So treat your clients well and collect those sparkling reviews for display on your site. It’ll have a ripple effect for years to come.

Built-in Expert SEO

Using my SEO techniques that have been proven time and again to get Squarespace websites to Google Page 1, I optimized this site using built-in organic methods.

As of the date this article is published, Acclaim Media is ranking on Google Page 1 for the following keywords (and possibly more that I haven’t found yet): video production company naperville / video production illinois / camera crew chicago (ranking on google page 2, but because Chicago is such a tough and competitive market this is a very good ranking) / corporate safety video chicago

Client Feedback on their new site:

Tiffany was very easy to work with. Despite being in time zones several hours apart, the project advanced as scheduled. Her communication and organizational skills facilitated the projects progress. I also should commend her on her advice. She was able to help me through design decisions that I had questions on so that the website became better than I had originally hoped.”

Client Feedback 2 years later:

“This website has brought in more biz than all my other websites (dating back to 1990) combined.”
