I Don’t Have A Mac, But I Do Have An Online Business [Best Budget Laptop For Business & Personal Use In 2020]
I used to have a little bit of a complex…
Working often at cafes and coffee shops, I’ve realized over the past few years that every single person, their mother, and their grandmother, and their Corgi, have an Apple MacBook.
I’d look at my dingy laptop, purchased in 2012, which my husband refers to as the Milennium Falcon, because of how banged up it is, but just keeps going on being all reliable and functional.
“The Falcon looks like a worn-out junker, but beneath her hull she’s full of surprises.” - Milennium Falcon WikiPedia
Why haven’t I switched to Mac?
Um… I’m way too busy with work and all of the research inherent in my work.
No incentive to research other laptops. If it ain’t broke…
I just realllyyy don’t want to go through the learning curve of switching from Windows to Mac.
I know… there are probably plenty of good reasons I should, and why it’s the reasonable thing to do, otherwise everyone and their Corgi dog wouldn’t have one, right? Right?!
But, I’m in a really happy relationship with my Hewlett Packard. And I’m just not interested in seeing other laptops right now.
Last year, I decided I should have a backup laptop in case all hell breaks loose and my Milennium Falcon finally dies on me. Do you know what I bought and have sitting on standby, fresh and new? Another Hewlett-Packard, just like this ol’ girl I’m typing on right now.

The Laptop I Use, And Rely On, To Run My Online Business
A glorious HP with a big 17-inch screen.
I bought her in 2012, and we’re almost halfway through 2019. That’s pretty dang good, especially considering the nomadic lifestyle I’ve been living up until recently.
In fact, the only thing wrong with this BEAST is that her left hinge is all messed up, so I have to brace it everytime I close it.
Old bones. I get it.
I could go get this fixed, but… busy!
Sometimes I think, Tiffany you’re a successful business owner, you should have a nice [looking] laptop! How unprofessional! Then, I think - no way, I love this laptop and I can count on it. Isn’t that what matters? I have 100% client satisfaction ratings, isn’t that what matters?
I think so.
So, if you’re on a budget or just want to stick to Windows, get yourself an HP, my friend, and run your dang online business with it ;)
